Sewing machine jams or needle breaks
Correct threading and proper needle attachment are really important for a successful sewing result. Checking these things will ensure that your sewing machine works correctly and that the quality of your seams remains good.
Correct threading:
Make sure that the top thread as well as the bottom thread is threaded clockwise. The top thread should pass through the thread holders and guides in the correct order.
Correct needle threading:
When threading a needle, it is important to feed the thread into the needle eye from the front.
The needle must be inserted in the front of the needle to ensure that the needle is always in the correct position.
Check that the needle is attached to the sewing machine firmly and in the correct direction. A needle that is too loosely attached can cause uneven stitches or even needle breakage.
Needle selection
Choosing the right needle is the key to successful sewing, and here are some tips for choosing the right needle:
Needle system: the needle system is 130/705 and is suitable for sewing machines and seamers. Popular needle brands include Organ, Schmetz, Prym and Inspira.
Needle design: 130/705 needles have a D-shaped hub, with the flat side of the needle facing backwards.
Material thickness Choose a needle based on the composition and thickness of the material to be sewn. A thicker fabric requires a thicker needle, while a thinner fabric is suitable for a thinner needle.
Needle numbering. A higher number means a thicker needle. For example, in jersey and college sewing, sizes 75-90 are usually used.
Needle types:
Universal (130/705 H).
Jersey (130/705 H-SUK): Ballpoint needle for loosely knitted fabrics.
Stretch (130/705 H-S): hemispherical needle for stretch fabrics.
Jeans (130/705 H-J): Pointed needle for thick fabrics.
Leather (130/705 H-LL): For leather and imitation leather stitching.
Microtex/Microfibre (130/705 H-M): Pointed needle for thin and tightly woven fabrics.
HA x 1SP: Superstretch needle to prevent skipping, especially for use in the seamer.
EL x: Needles for sewing machines and quilting machines.
